While attending the Winona Arts Camp I learned that I wasn’t shy after all!

8 Year-old Student

My daughter had a great time at the Summer Dance Intensive (SDI). She enjoyed the teachers, learning new styles of dance, as well as being challenged in styles of dance that she was already familiar with. The teachers were encouraging and supportive. I would highly recommend SDI.

Parent of SDI Participant

In the past few years, I have watched my daughter grow into a more confident little girl. She isn’t as shy as she used to be and enjoys being involved. She absolutely loves tap dance! She fell in love with it last year at this time when she tried the National Tap dance workshop. She has also enjoyed the arts camp and when it was over last summer, she asked when she could go again. She is able to experience a bit of independence while at camp.

Thanks to positive feedback the SDI will once again be 3-weeks! The Dance Intensive will held July 7-27, 2019 in Winona, Minnesota. Join the Short & Sweet Choir

According to The Chorus Impact Study choral singers not only learn music skills, but participation in choral singing programs also correlates with better social and emotional skills. Choir participation can help make students better participants in groups, lead to better emotional expression and management, improve overall academic performance, help instill self-discipline and more. Thanks to support from the Slaggie Family Foundation, MCA will be offering local youth in grades 3-8 the opportunity participate in the Short & Sweet Choir Experience, a week long program that will run Dec. 10-14, 4:45-6:15pm daily. The week will close with a performance during the Dec. 14th MCA Music Division Concert at 7pm.

Music Access Thanks to BK-5K Youth Fund

In June of 2018 the Minnesota Conservatory for the Arts (MCA) was the recipient of a generous grant from the BK 5K Youth Fund and in just a few short months the impact has been huge! With the grant MCA was able to purchase a classroom set of children’s guitars, hand drums, world music instruments, percussion bell kits, hand bells, boomwackers, preschooler sized chairs and creative movement tools. With these new additions MCA has been able to provide over 300 youth of all ages the opportunity to experience the academic and social benefits of music education.
