Our summer programming offers an engaging, inspiring and safe environment for students to gain new skills and perfect artistry.
Below is a list of our new and popular summer camps. We also have a new session of dance classes for all ages beginning in May, National Tap Dance Day Workshops in May, and private music lessons offered throughout the Summer. MCA is excited to bring back our Winona Arts Camp for a 6th year! . Registration for Spring & Summer 2022 will open April 4th, at noon. Families can register in person at MCA’s home, the Valencia Arts Center located at 1164 W. 10th Street, Winona, MN.
El Campamento De Encanto
Come join us on a journey to South America where you will make new friends as you dance, create visual arts and learn some music from this area of the world during this artistic and imaginative adventure. Families are invited to an open house at 10:15am on the last day of camp. Early bird fee $85, $95 after May 1. Please send a water bottle and snack each day. Cost includes camp t-shirt.

Winona Arts Camp 2022
Join MCA as we welcome back this amazingly fun integrated arts summer camp for it's 6th year. Once again students will get to rank their class choice of visual and performing arts they want to explore, having the opportunity to be immersed in four subjects a day. From percussion and visual arts to learning how to dances of the world and songwriting to name a few, there are plenty of options to satisfy the artist in everyone. Back by popular demand, there will be an all camp talent show on Friday morning and families are invited to attend a lively showcase at 3 pm on Friday afternoon. We will share a google survey soon for class options to choose from.
Dates: August 15-19, M-F
Time: 9:00 am- 3:30 pm
Age: 1st - 8th grade
Price: $185 (Early Bird Special), $209 (after May 1), Fee includes camp t-shirt. Students will need to bring a lunch and water bottle daily.
Class choices for 2022 include: Class options will be announced soon via a google form that will need to be filled out by July 31st.
Join us for an exciting week of rhythm! TAP CAMP will include classes in tap technique, repertory, improvisation, body percussion, music theory, and concepts for the tap dancer, tap history, and tap in films. TAP CAMP will hold new challenges for beginning, intermediate, and advanced tappers. An informal demonstration for family and friends will be held on Friday. Feel the rhythm, feel the rhyme, come on dancers, it's TAP CAMP time! Campers (and friends and family on the last day) will be required to follow MCA's COVID Code of Conduct.
Dates: Wednesday-Sunday, August 10-14, 2022
Time: Tap 4 Kids/Tap I 11:00am-1:00pm, Tap II+ 9:00am-1:00pm **Note Sunday times are 3:00-5:00pm and 1:00-5:00pm
Tap for Kids and Tap I: (ages 6+, no experience- two years experience)
Tap II-V: (Intermediate & advanced Tap Dancers ages 11+ or MCA Tap levels II-V. Tappers will participate in a placement class on day one.)
Fee: Tap for Kids and Tap I: $85 (Early bird), $99 (After May 1)
Tap II-V: $165 (Early bird), $189 (After May 1)
Dancers should bring water bottle. Snack will be provided.
**Please don't let the lack of tap shoes be a barrier, we have a tap shoes that can be borrowed in most sizes, just contact our office at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Junior Training Program for Dancers
Are you ready to dance your day away? Here is your chance! Each day dancers will warm up in a ballet class; build foot and ankle strength in pre-pointe; dabble in different theory classes such as dance history, composition (choreography), and theatre; and round out their dance experience with a “genre of the day” class, including jazz, modern, musical theatre, and hip hop. Each day will end with a rehearsal in preparation for a final showcase for up to two family members per dancer. Dress rehearsal and performance schedules, July 29 and 30 may vary from the above times, but will be communicated in advance.
No auditions are required, but it is recommended that dancers have at least two years of ballet technique training. MCA's COVID Code of Conduct.

Time: 9am-5pm, M-F, Dress rehearsal and performance schedules, July 29-30 may vary from the above times, but will be communicated in advance.
Location: Inside Valencia Arts Center
Fee: $700 (Fee includes over 60 hours of instruction)
Room & Board: $1000 (on SMU campus and includes transportation, meals & chaperones).
2022 Summer Dance Intensive
Minnesota Conservatory for the Arts (MCA) is excited to announce that we will be offering our 19th annual Summer Dance Intensive. The 2022 Intensive will be in-person while following MCA’s COVID Code of Conduct. Room and board is available again this year. We are so excited to still be able to offer a wonderful well-rounded and personal experience for intermediate and advanced dancers ages 11-22. The intensive will run July 10-30, 2022.
Dancers interested in attending the MCA Summer Dance Intensive are invited to attend one of our 2 audition locations at La Crosse Dance Centre, La Crosse, WI or a our facility MCA, Winona, MN or send in a video submission.
