With busy work and school schedules we know it can be hard to find time to do things as a family so in addition to producing a variety of music, theatre and dance performances for you and your family to enjoy we have multi-age classes that will help families make memories, get creative and learn together. Below are descriptions of our Family Classes, but you may also want to check out our Events listing to find out about #MCAontheGo events & performances out in the community.
My Grown up & Me
Does your child love to move? Children ages 18 months to 3 years are invited to explore a new environment and connect with a special grown-up in their life. This class will stimulate coordination, balance, and listening skills and will be filled with smiles to last a lifetime! Grown-ups attending will be asked to participate along with their child.
Day/Dates: Thursdays, Jan. 9 –March 12
Time: 5:15–5:45 p.m.
Ages: 18 mo.–3 years (by Jan. 1)

Minnesota Conservatory for the Arts is thrilled to announce our 47th annual spring Dance Repertory Company (DRC), Change in Color. Change in Color will be presented on April 18th, at 7:30pm and 3pm on April 19th inside the Page Theatre in the Saint Mary’s University Performance Center. This will be an evening of classical and contemporary dance, suitable and engaging for all ages.
Prairie Fire Children’s Theatre will be back for the fifth consecutive year at Minnesota Conservatory for the Arts. Area students ages 7-18 are invited to join the cast of “Cinderella.” This original rock and roll musical version set in the 1950’s is fun for all age ages. Any student registered will be cast in this week-long production. No prior theatre experience is required. All cast members are required to participate in the audition process on April 20 to determine their role. Cast members MUST be available for rehearsals Monday- Friday, 4-8:15 p.m. and performances on Friday, April 24, at 7 p.m. and Saturday, April 25, at 2 p.m. Performances are in MCA’s Academy Theatre at the Valéncia Arts Center.
A day at Minnesota Conservatory for the Arts summer dance intensive: For three weeks each July, around 30-38 dancers venture to the small but safe and beautiful river town of Winona, MN. These intermediate and advanced dancers who range in age from 11-22 years experience full days of dancing, attend professional music and theatre performances, and make friendships that last a lifetime. The Intensive is rooted in strong ballet technique, but offers a well-rounded dance education and opportunity to study with top notch artists in a nurturing environment.
