Classes & ProgramsDance Repertory Company
In addition to dance classes, an exciting part of the learning experience for MCA students is performance opportunities.
Students may audition for MCA’s pre-professional performing ensemble, the Dance Repertory Company (DRC), or MCA’s junior performing troupe, the Dance Repertory Company II. Biennially DRC presents a full-length production of the traditional holiday classic The Nutcracker (Dec. 2020 will be our 11th production) as well as The Sugar Plum Fairy Tea Party.
DRC Students and alumni have studied at or performed with: American Ballet Theatre, Anaya Dance Theatre, Ballet Austin, Joffery Ballet, Limon Dance Company, Radio City Music Hall, Milwaukee Ballet, St. Paul Ballet, and more.
Upcoming DRC Productions:
Come and experience MCA’s emerging Dance Repertory Company II (DRC II) members in this dance showcase. The performances will feature dancers aged 5-13 years performing, tap, ballet, hip hop, modern and musical theatre to favorite animal themed songs. Audiences will be delighted as they see Inspector Clouseau’s tapping in search of that sneaky Pink Panther, ballet dancers personifying birds and fish to selections of Camille Saint-Saëns’ Carnival of the Animals, Jellicle Cats pouncing on stage to a musical theatre selection from the Andrew Lloyd Weber’s musical Cats, and more.

As the weather turns colder and we are looking for different ways to stay active this winter, we are here to offer COVID safe ways to help keep dancers conditioned and learning. Below is a list of our virtual Stay Strong dance session classes which include weekly live small group classes via Zoom in a variety of dance styles as well as access to a few previously recorded classes to engage in during weeks off. Looking for something more self-paced but still presented by your beloved MCA team? Check out our Tap Jam and Nutcracker Adventure Kit.
At Minnesota Conservatory for the Arts (MCA) our Dance Repertory Company (DRC) has the wonderful tradition of producing a biennial production of the classic ballet, The Nutcracker. Though 2020 should have been our 11th production over a 22 year period, we were unable to make this happen safely due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. So while we wait until we can gather together, we have created a way for you to still celebrate the Nutcracker Season, with our Nutcracker Adventure Kits.
Minnesota Conservatory for the Arts is thrilled to announce our 47th annual spring Dance Repertory Company (DRC), Change in Color. Change in Color will be presented on April 18th, at 7:30pm and 3pm on April 19th inside the Page Theatre in the Saint Mary’s University Performance Center. This will be an evening of classical and contemporary dance, suitable and engaging for all ages.
