Important dates to know:

June 5 & 6, 2022: Auditions and Callbacks! Join us for auditions on Sunday, June 5 from noon to 6pm at MCA. Callback times on Monday, June 6 will be announced as needed.

June 8, 2022: Cast and parent meeting in MCA’s Academy Theatre at 7pm.

August 12, & 13: Performances at MCA’s Academy Theatre. Friday, August 12 at 7pm; Saturday, August 13 at 2pm & 7pm.

What to know for auditions:

-Wear something comfortable to easily move in

-Prepare 30 seconds, or around 16 bars, of a song of your choice

What to know about rehearsals:

-Rehearsals will be marked whether it is a music, choreography, or working on lines along with what scenes are going to be worked on

-Bring a pencil, notebook and water bottle to rehearsals (snack/packed dinner?)

Most actors will not be required to attend more than a few rehearsals per week, to be scheduled on weekday evenings between 5:30 and 8:30pm. Unlike our Prairie Fire Children’s Theatre residencies that are one week long, this production takes place over more than ten weeks meaning that actors will have more “breathing room” to learn lines, lyrics, blocking, and everything else that goes along with the show.

More about Junie B.:

Created by Marcy Heisler and Zina Goldrich, Junie B. Jones: The Musical JR. is an adaptation of four of Barbara Park’s best-selling books, brought to life in a show specifically for young  performers.

Join Junie B. on her first day of first grade. Changes abound, as Junie’s best friend Lucille has found new best friends -— and Junie B. makes friends with Herb, the new kid at school. While in Mr. Scary’s class, Junie has trouble reading the blackboard — and she may need glasses. Add in a friendly cafeteria lady, an intense kickball tournament and a “Top-Secret Personal Beeswax Journal,” and first grade has never been more exciting. Featuring many lovable characters and fun-filled songs, Junie B. Jones JR. will capture your hearts — just as the books captivated an entire generation of students.
