Winona State University Alumni are invited to explore their creative side during three upcoming virtual art classes provided over Zoom in partnership with Minnesota Conservatory for the Arts (MCA). These workshops are provided free to any WSU Alumni in partnership with WSU Alumni Engagement. Workshops will build upon each other, but a quick review at the beginning of each session will assist students that missed a previous session. Registration is required in order to receive a Zoom link approximately two hours prior to each class.

Sept. 14: Intentional Doodling Join together with other WSU alumni virtually for a live and interactive art class. During this session students explore using shapes, lines and patterns to create artwork and even relax the mind.

Sept. 21: Word Art During this session students will learn basic hand lettering techniques to add words to your art or art to your words.

Sept. 28: Bloom & Grow Whether you participated in the first two classes or not, you will love this class that will highlight how to combine large shapes such as letters or flowers and fill them with shapes, lines, and patterns. Come join us and your creativity will bloom & grow!

Instructor: Lisa Douglas
Suggested supplies: Students will just need a device enabled with Wi-Fi to run the Zoom meeting on, white 8 1/2 x 11 typing paper, pencil, eraser, fine line black pen and a circular item such as a roll of masking tape or can of tuna.

About the Instructor:

Lisa Douglas  studied music and art at Winona State University and has been a valued member of the Minnesota Conservatory for the Arts faculty since 2017. She has taught visual arts for Creative Aging programs in Winona and Rushford, MN, general music with Preschool-6th grade students of Riverway Learning Community, private piano lessons and visual arts including stained glass inspired art, weaving, drawing, oil pastel programs.
