MCA is excited to announce that we will hold our first induction ceremony for our chapter for National Honor on Saturday, January 13 at 2:30 pm in the Recital Hall at MCA.
The National Honor Society for Dance Arts™ (NHSDA) is a program of the National Dance Education Organization, created to recognize outstanding artistic merit, leadership, and academic achievement in students studying dance in public and private schools in K-12 education, dance studios, cultural/community centers, performing arts organizations, and post-secondary education. The NHSDA offers three levels of induction: The Junior Program for grades 6-8, The Secondary Program for grades 9-12, and The Collegiate Program for students in college or university dance programs.
Dancers interested being inducted in January are personally responsible for documenting their own points towards induction. They can do this using the Points Tracking Form available at, or by creating their own spreadsheet. This documentation will then be submitted to MCA NHSDA Chapter Sponsor Tammy Schmidt by the Monday, Dec. 4, 2017. The student will then apply for induction at They will create a username and password of their own for the site.  Schmidt will verify points and fill out an Induction Rubric for each applicant.
All documentation and the student’s personal account need to be in place a minimum of five weeks before induction.  So the deadline for submitting information online for January induction will be Monday, December 4, 2017.  This will allow MCA a few days to get everything done to make sure we are prepared for induction.   An $8 inductee fee in form of cash or check will be collected by MCA ( additional costs if you plan on purchasing graduation cords or a pin) so that MCA can send one blanket payment to the NDEO in to cover everything by the 5 week deadline.
If you don’t have enough points yet, or are unavailable to attend the January induction, no worries.  We will hold another induction at the end of the school year prior to graduation.
