The Minnesota Conservatory for the Arts, Visual Arts Division invites area children to participate in three unique art workshops lead by area artist and educator; Brianna Haupt.
Two of the workshops are part of the “Art and Stage Series” that are connected thematically MCA’s upcoming productions; a dance concert, Words in Motion (April 2nd) and Theatrical production Pinocchio. (April 9th)The Words in Motion workshop will spark creativity while creating with mixed media and during the Pinocchio workshop students will model their own creations out of Sculpey III clay, a polymer clay that is oven-baked once a project is completed.
The Final workshop of the session is “Create a Comic” (May 7th) in celebration of the holiday Free Comic Book Day. Artists will learn about how to create their very own comic and give it a try. Through a partnership with local Winona Comic Book Store Jimmy Jams participants will even get to take home their very own comic book.
The workshops are on the Saturdays listed above. 10:30am- Noon for students in grade K-2nd and 1-2:30pm for 3rd-5th grade students.
This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a Minnesota State Arts Board Operating Support grant, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.
