MCA announces auditions for Dance Repertory Company’s production Words In Motion

The Minnesota Conservatory for the Arts will hold auditions for Dance Repertory Company ‘s(DRC) spring production; Words in Motion. DRC is MCA’s pre-professional dance troupe comprised of intermediate and advanced dancers ages 13 and up. Younger MCA students who participated in Ballet II/III, Jazz I/II & Hip Hop I/II in the Fall of 2015 are also invited to audition for portions of one of the Ballet’s and the Hip Hop piece, but roles for these students are limited.

Words in Motion will bring words to life through original choreographic pieces based on literature from novels, poetry and more. Styles of dance will include ballet, jazz, tap, hip hop, or modern.   Auditions are free and open to the public. Those cast will be required to pay a $75 performance fee which covers costumes and be required to be enrolled in at least once dance or theatre class at MCA during the Fall session. College students at any university that are enrolled in any dance class on a campus are exempt from the class requirement and Saint Mary’s University Student’s fee is included in SMU tuition.

Dancers will be taught short dance combinations for each genera they are auditioning for. They may select to audition for all of the pieces or any of the following: ballet, jazz, tap, modern or hip hop pieces.

Auditions will be held at MCA’s home, the Valencia Arts Center on Saturday, Jan. 16, 1:30pm. The final performances will be April14-16, 2016 at the Page Theatre on the Saint Mary’s University Campus.
