While attending the Winona Arts Camp I learned that I wasn’t shy after all!Lucy
My daughter had a great time at the Summer Dance Intensive (SDI). She enjoyed the teachers, learning new styles of dance, as well as being challenged in styles of dance that she was already familiar with. The teachers were encouraging and supportive. I would highly recommend SDI.Parent of SDI Participant
In the past few years, I have watched my daughter grow into a more confident little girl. She isn’t as shy as she used to be and enjoys being involved. She absolutely loves tap dance! She fell in love with it last year at this time when she tried the National Tap dance workshop. She has also enjoyed the arts camp and when it was over last summer, she asked when she could go again. She is able to experience a bit of independence while at camp.Parent of MCA Student
In June of 2018 the Minnesota Conservatory for the Arts (MCA) was the recipient of a generous grant from the BK 5K Youth Fund and in just a few short months the impact has been huge! With the grant MCA was able to purchase a classroom set of children’s guitars, hand drums, world music instruments, percussion bell kits, hand bells, boomwackers, preschooler sized chairs and creative movement tools. With these new additions MCA has been able to provide over 300 youth of all ages the opportunity to experience the academic and social benefits of music education.
Hand drumming can be fun but science has also show that those who drum can experience some of the amazing mental and physical benefit. Here is just a short list of the benefits:
1. Drumming makes you happy. The act of drumming releases endorphins, and alpha brain waves, which help create general feelings of well-being and euphoria.
2. Increased confidence. Playing the drums requires confidence to play LOUD and relatively unapologetic, as students progress they learn skills and confidence to showcase them, helping them excel in many areas of their lives.
Minnesota Conservatory for the arts is excited to welcome the community to our 16th Annual Summer Dance Intensive Showcase on July 28th at 7pm at the Page Theatre on the Saint Mary’s University campus. The showcase performance will feature a variety of dance forms including: ballet, pointe, jazz, musical theatre dance, and modern dance.
