Music Games with WSU for ages 6-12 @ MCA
Come sing and move with Winona State University’s Music Education Classroom Methods students and professor! Part of the process of learning to teach classroom music in the elementary school is learning to lead students in singing games and play parties. Play parties are songs with movement—almost like folk dances but with a strong element of “play”—from early in American history. Singing games have been created and played over the generations by children from countries all over the world as well as the United States. Cathy Schmidt—the professor for the methods class—will be model teaching some of this rich repertoire with her students and would like you to join in on September 12th from 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM (when the Homeschoolers Act-it-Out class begins at MCA). On September 19th & 21st, 9:30-10:30am, the students in the methods class will be trying their hand at teaching some singing games and play parties as well. (The students will be teaching different songs and games—there shouldn’t be any repetition from the week before.) Anyone age 6 and up is welcome to join in the fun on both days. These songs and activities are fun for all ages. This is a free opportunity, but registration is required by emailing Jamie Schwaba, at email@example.com.

I like our piano teacher’s enthusiasm. I appreciate that you offer dance classes which do not require girls to dress in immodest clothing.Parent of MCA Music & Dance Students
I love the atmosphere and environment. I think MCA and the community within it exudes positivity, and that is something that I haven’t experienced in the past. I feel at home at MCA.Parent of MCA Dancer
