Family Programs

With busy work and school schedules we know it can be hard to find time to do things as a family so in addition to producing a variety of music, theatre and dance performances for you and your family to enjoy we have multi-age classes that will help families make memories, get creative and learn together. Below are descriptions of our Family Classes, but you may also want to check out our Events listing to find out about  #MCAontheGo events & performances out in the community.

Music for Little Movers

You and your child will squeal with delight as you wiggle and spin with Amanda to both original and favorite preschool songs. This class will explore new topics each week including colors, animals, and seasons. It is designed to develop your child’s motor skills, tickle their ears and create a fun memories.

Instructor: Amanda Grace

Date: Tuesdays, Jan. 16- Feb. 20

Time: 10 - 10:30 a.m.

Age: Birth-5 years with a caregiver

Fee: $42 per child or $69 per family

My Grown up & Me

Does your child love to move? Children ages 18 months – 3 years old are invited to explore a new environment and connect with a special grown-up in their life. This class will stimulate coordination, balance and listening skills and will be filled with smiles to last a lifetime! Grown-ups attending will be asked to participate along with their child.

Day/Dates: Thursdays, Jan. 11- March 15

Time: 5:30-6:00 p.m.

Age: 18 months -3 years by 01/01/18

Fee: $70 (10 classes)

3rd Annual MCA Free-4-All & Winter Open House

Have you been waiting for just the right time to check out one of our classes? The wait is now over, MCA is having a FREE-4-ALL… a day of free classes for the whole family! This event will feature classes for both youth and adults- so bring some friends and try a class or two. All classes are FREE, space is limited so preregistration is recommended online, by phone or in-person.

Family Arts Academy

Family Arts Academy workshops are FREE monthly themed multi-arts experiences that invite the whole family to learn new skills, meet local artists and have fun creating together. Come to one or all, pre-registration recommended. Geared towards kids ages 4-12 and their families, but all ages are welcome.

Let's Go to the Movies- Nov. 14, 5:30pm-6:30pm, Free, includes special dance performance set to a song form "Moana" and arts activities with  "Mission Impossible" & "Space Jam"

Be Our Guest- Dec. 12, 5:30-6:30pm, Free, special vocal performance and "Beauty and the Beast" themed art activities.

Journey Beyond Platform 9 3/4- Jan. 5, 5:30-6:30pm- Free, a Harry Potter themed artventure.

All the World is a Stage- Feb. 2, 5:30-6:30pm- Free

Luck of the Irish- March 2, 5:30-6:30pm- Free

Art Attack- April 6, 5:30-6:30pm- Free

Jedi Training (back by popular demand!)- May 4, 5:30-6:30pm, Free


“Class Act” Student Art Show

Come view the artwork of Kahty Kovala, Watercolor Artist and her students displayed in Galleria Valéncia at the Minnesota Conservatory for the Arts at 1164 W. Howard Street. The exhibit will run November 3- Nov. 30th, 2017. The community is invited to an Open House on November 18th, 10am-4pm to view the artwork, enjoy refreshments and watch students paint. The Open House will coincide with the Winona Art Walk hosted by the River Arts Alliance.

MCA Winter Session- Keep Busy This Winter!

We are so excited to release our Winter Catalog for Minnesota Conservatory for the Arts programming from January- April 2018. Registration will open on Nov. 1st, 2017. Until then you can browse the new and old favorites and save the date for the classes that will keep you and your family happy and healthy this winter!
