With busy work and school schedules we know it can be hard to find time to do things as a family so in addition to producing a variety of music, theatre and dance performances for you and your family to enjoy we have multi-age classes that will help families make memories, get creative and learn together. Below are descriptions of our Family Classes, but you may also want to check out our Events listing to find out about #MCAontheGo events & performances out in the community.
My Grown up & Me
Does your child love to move? Children ages 18 months – 3 years old are invited to explore a new environment and connect with a special grown-up in their life. This class will stimulate coordination, balance and listening skills and will be filled with smiles to last a lifetime! Grown-ups attending will be asked to participate along with their child.
Day/Dates: Wednesdays, Jan. 9- March 13
Time: 5:15-5:45 p.m.
Age: 18 months -3 years by 01/01/19
Fee: $70 (10 classes)

NEW! Music fun with Mr. Kerry
Are you ready to have fun? Are you interested in hand drums, the guitar or singing? Come play with MCA's new collection of children's instruments. Intended for children ages 3 to 7, with a special grown-up in their life. This class will teach basic music skills using a variety of instruments, songs, games, and activities. No experience required!

Date: Saturdays, Jan. 12-March 2
Time: 2-3 pm
Age: 3-7 years with a caregiver
Fee: $64 per child or $77 per family
Music for Little Movers
You and your child will squeal with delight as you wiggle and spin with Amanda to both original and favorite preschool songs. This class will explore new topics each week including colors, animals, and seasons. It is designed to develop your child’s motor skills, tickle their ears and create a fun memories.

Date: Wednesdays, Jan. 9- 30
Time: 9:30-10:00 am
Age: Birth-5 years with a caregiver
Fee: $28 per child or $35 per family
Parents! Come learn how to teach your little one the guitar and have fun doing it. Geared for parents with children ages 4-6 years old, The Suzuki Guitar Method is based on the way a child acquires language. Besides instilling the gift of music, it is also an opportunity to bond with your child while teaching socialization skills, patience, persistence, community, respect, problem solving, and joyful participation. Our instructor, Kerry Klungtvedt, is a nationally registered Suzuki Teacher with many years of experience. This program is comprised of a mix of parent only, parent & child, group and private lessons. For this exciting pilot program participation is very limited but guitars will be issued to both parents and children to use throughout the program.
Winter: Saturdays, Jan. 28-March 25
Time: class 10:00am-10:30am, lesson scheduled directly prior or after
Age: 4-6 years old with a parent or guardian

Price: $189 (include guitar rental for both adult and child guitar)
MCA is home to three jazz combos: the Duke, Dizzy, and Basie Combos. These combos are comprised of students ages 11-18 from the Winona area. The public is invited to hear these talented young musicians on Wednesday, March 6 at 6 p.m. in the Academy Theatre in MN Conservatory for the Arts’ home, the Valencia Arts Center and on Sunday, March 25 at 5:30 p.m. at Wellington’s Pub & Grill, 1429 W. Service Dr.

We are so pleased to announce the 2019 cast of Dance Repertory Company’s (DRC) production of Classically Speaking it is going to be a fabulous show. If you have been cast please do not forget to initial that you accept the role on the print out in the lobby at MCA or on the call board at SMU or let us know at firstname.lastname@example.org if for some reason you cannot commit to the role(s) you have been cast. We look forward to seeing everyone (cast member & parents of those 18 and under) on Thursday, Jan. 24th at 7:00pm in MCA’s Academy Theatre at the mandatory meeting.
MCA is so excited to announce that we are offering a new class this winter. Intermediate/ Advanced Contemporary Dance will combine elements of modern, jazz, and classical ballet.
