In addition to dance classes, an exciting part of the learning experience for MCA students is performance opportunities.
Students may audition for MCA’s pre-professional performing ensemble, the Dance Repertory Company (DRC), or MCA’s junior performing troupe, the Dance Repertory Company II. Biennially DRC presents a full-length production of the traditional holiday classic The Nutcracker (Dec. 2018 will be our 10th production) as well as The Sugar Plum Fairy Tea Party.
DRC Students and alumni have studied at or performed with: American Ballet Theatre, Anaya Dance Theatre, Ballet Austin, Joffery Ballet, Limon Dance Company, Radio City Music Hall, Milwaukee Ballet, St. Paul Ballet, and more.

Minnesota Conservatory for the Arts and Saint Mary’s Department of Theatre and Dance present Dance Repertory Company’s 10th biennial production of Tchaikovsky’s holiday classic ballet, The Nutcracker. Join Clara and her beloved Nutcracker as she journeys through the land of sweets, complete with sugar plum fairies, snowflakes, dew drops and russian babas.
Auditions: Community Dancers ages 5- Adult are invited to audition Sat. Sept. 8th during the following time slots at MCA’s home, the Valencia Arts Center. 5-6 years- arrive at 3pm, 7-9 years- arrive at 3:45pm, 10 years- adults- arrive at 4:45pm. All performances are at the Saint Mary University of Minnesota, Page Theatre (700 Terrace Heights, Winona, MN). Tickets are $12 for adults, $5 for students and senior citizens. The 46th annual spring dance concert of Minnesota Conservatory for the Arts’ Dance Repertory Company will present an engaging performance featuring works that range from classical to contemporary, ballet to hip hop, encompassing re-staged re-staged works as well as brand new choreography created by MCA faculty and regional guest artists. Students attending the matinee performance will love the exposure to different dance styles and be challenged to observe how dancers can tell a story through movement, music and other production elements.

Other Performance Opportunities
In addition to the Dance Repertory Company MCA tries to offer performance opportunities both big and small through the participation in National Tap Dance Day, Irish Festivals, Ready Set School’s Chili Cook Off, Winona Public Library events, performances at Nursing homes and more. Between Summer Camps, MCA’s Music and Theatre Divisions there are plenty of performance opportunities and chances to attend performances. We are so happy that we have been selected by Mississippi Thunder Speedway in Fountain City to participate in a 50/50 raffle. We need to provide a few volunteers to sell raffle tickets for $1 or $5 for 6 tickets and we get to keep 50% of money collected for tickets that evening. The money raised will be used to help us race into the preparations of our Dance Repertory Company’s (DRC) 10th biennial production of The Nutcracker, which will run Nov. 28-Dec.2, 2018 at the Page Theatre.
Volunteers are needed on July 27th, 2018 5:45pm- approx. 10 pm. Volunteers ages 10 and up are invited to participate and will be are given free admission and 2 adults or 1 child and 1 adult will be given pit passes. Tickets buckets and aprons are provided.read more
