In addition to dance classes, an exciting part of the learning experience for MCA students is performance opportunities.
Students may audition for MCA’s pre-professional performing ensemble, the Dance Repertory Company (DRC), or MCA’s junior performing troupe, the Dance Repertory Company II. Biennially DRC presents a full-length production of the traditional holiday classic The Nutcracker (Dec. 2018 will be our 10th production) as well as The Sugar Plum Fairy Tea Party.
DRC Students and alumni have studied at or performed with: American Ballet Theatre, Anaya Dance Theatre, Ballet Austin, Joffery Ballet, Limon Dance Company, Radio City Music Hall, Milwaukee Ballet, St. Paul Ballet, and more.

This exciting dance concert will feature ballet, jazz, tap, hip hop, modern pieces inspired by the big screen including “Star Wars”, “Moana” “Peanuts” and “WALL-E”. Dancers aged 6-13 with at least one session of dance class under their belt are invited to audition for our junior performance company troupe, the Dance Repertory Company II (DRC II). Performances: Dec. 1 (10am), Dec. 2-3, 3pm 2017 MCA Academy Theatre, all tickets $5 (cash or check only).
The enchanting music of Sergei Prokofiev brings this much loved fairy tale to life. With whimsical scenery, a romantic story and comical stepsisters, the Dance Repertory Company’s production of Cinderella promises a dose of humor with the majesty of classical ballet. In addition to the Dance Repertory Company MCA tries to offer performance opportunities both big and small through the participation in National Tap Dance Day, Irish Festivals, Ready Set School’s Chili Cook Off, Winona Public Library events, performances at Nursing homes and more. Other Performance Opportunities
There are other opportunities to study dance in the Winona community, but there is nothing that compares with the the long rich history and unique experience MCA offers. MCA begun as the Ballet School under the direction of our founder, Stefannié Valéncia Kierlin in 1973. Minnesota Conservatory for the Arts (DRC) Dance Repertory Company will be bringing the full length ballet of Cinderella to life April 20-22 at the beautiful Page Theatre. As a non-profit community arts school MCA is seeking a small act community involvement to support our dancers and production. The community is invited to dine at Culvers in Winona (1441 Service Dr, Winona, Minnesota 55987) on April 2, 2018 between 5:00-8:00pm to be served by Dancers and Friends of MCA. Culver’s of Winona will be generously donating a portion of that evenings sales to help enhance this unique production and any left over support will be allocated to the MCA scholarship fund that helps make the arts possible for students of all ages regardless of the ability to pay.read more
