Main reACTion Troupe 2019-20 School Year Auditions

Ready to take your improv skills to the next level? If so, Main reACTion is for you! The Minnesota Conservatory for the Arts (MCA) is seeking 10–15 creative quick-thinkers to form the Main reACTion Improv Troupe for the 2019–2020 school-year. Main reACTion’s school-year troupe will perform at 1–2 locations/events per month. Auditions will be held on on Sunday, Aug. 11, 6-8pm in the Academy Theatre at MCA's home, the Valencia Arts Center (1164 W. 10th Street, Winona, MN).

Ways of Watercolor Exhibit

Thanks to a generous grant from Aroha Philanthropies Minnesota Conservatory for the Arts was able to offer community members ages 55+ the opportunity to learn more about the ways watercolor paint during an 8-week course taught local teaching artist, Brianna Haupt. On Monday, Aug. 5, 5:00-6:00pm the community is invited to a celebration and opening of the exhibit at the in Galleria Valencia inside MN Conservatory for the Arts' home, The Valencia Arts Center. During the celebration the community will have the opportunity to meet and greet the artists, walk through the exhibit and enjoy treats. Visitors will love the variety of techniques represented from wet on wet to still life paintings. Community members unable to attend the open house can view the exhibit throughout the month of August during business hours and when ever programming is happening.

Summer Dance Showcase

Minnesota Conservatory for the arts is excited to invite the community to our 17th Annual Summer Dance Intensive Showcase on July 27th at 7pm at the Page Theatre on the Saint Mary’s University campus. The showcase performance will feature a variety of dance forms including: ballet, pointe, jazz, tap, hip hop, musical theatre dance, and modern dance.

Strum, Act, and Create during Winona Arts Camp

Our most popular camp, the Winona Arts Camp is back for the 5th year, Aug. 5-9, 9am-3:30pm. For the second year  campers get to have input into the classes they want to take the most. Each camper will be placed in 4 classes that they will take daily for the week of camp. Back by popular demand, there will be an all camp talent show on Friday morning and families are invited to attend a lively showcase at 3 pm on Friday afternoon. Main reACTion Performances

Main reACTion Performances

The public will be invited to eight weekly 1-hour performances by Main ReACTion lead by MCA Theatre Instructor, Catherine Deysach on Tuesdays from June 11th- August 6th, 6:30-7:30pm at different locations on Third Street between Main Street & Layfette Street. Stroll downtown on Third Street and you will be sure to find the young actors and actresses wearing brightly colored shirts accompanied by a sign identifying the group. Locations will also be announced on the MCA Facebook page on the day of performances.
