On Friday, August 24, 6pm- 9am Saturday, Aug. 25. MCA will hold it’s 2nd Annual Student Lock-in. All MCA students from the past year from all divisions (music, theatre, dance & visual arts) are invited to attend and bring 1 guest that has not been an MCA student in the last year, if they wish! Participants will enjoy an escape room, a dance party, movies, games, crafts and more.read more
We are so happy that we have been selected by Mississippi Thunder Speedway in Fountain City to participate in a 50/50 raffle. We need to provide a few volunteers to sell raffle tickets for $1 or $5 for 6 tickets and we get to keep 50% of money collected for tickets that evening. The money raised will be used to help us race into the preparations of our Dance Repertory Company’s (DRC) 10th biennial production of The Nutcracker, which will run Nov. 28-Dec.2, 2018 at the Page Theatre. Volunteers are needed on July 27th, 2018 5:45pm- approx. 9:15 pm.
Minnesota Conservatory for the arts is excited to welcome the community to our 16th Annual Summer Dance Intensive Showcase on July 28th at 7pm at the Page Theatre on the Saint Mary’s University campus. The showcase performance will feature a variety of dance forms including: ballet, pointe, jazz, musical theatre dance, and modern dance.read more

Back by popular demand, our 2nd annual Super Artist Camp camp for ages 3- 1st grade is almost here! The week long camp runs June 25-29 at MCA’s home, The Valencia Arts Center. This camp invites young children to explore their inner artist, grow their imaginations, and creative super powers. They will zoom around the room like their favorite heroes, design their own super accessories, sing out proud with their brave voices and more.read more
Our most popular camp, the Winona Arts Camp is back for the 4th year, Aug. 6-10, 9am-3:30pm. However, for the first time ever campers get to have input into the classes they want to take the most. Each camper will be placed in 4 classes that they will take daily for the week of camp. So what can campers explore?
-From Concept to Curtain (Learn how to craft a story for the stage in this introduction to playwriting class)
-Exploring the Masters (Get inspired by master artists to create your own masterpieces and also take a trip to the Minnesota Marine Art Museum to see work of the masters up close (transportation included).
-Stand up Commedia (a mix of improvisational theatre and Commedia Dell’arte, get ready to laugh and think quick on your feet)
-Ready, Set, DRAW (From sketching to Zentagle, you will be amazed with what you can create with pen and ink)
-Dance Around the World (From Africa to Ireland, explore a new culture and style of dance each day)
-Tappin’ Time (we provide the tap shoes for the week and you get to learn how to shuffle, flap and more)
-Hip Hop Dance (learn hip hop tricks, moves, and jumps you can show off to your friends and family)
-Stain Glass Techniques (when you live in the stain glass studio capital it makes you want to create your very own, so this is your chance to play with visual art and light to create)
-Sing Out (Give your vocal cords a workout while you play musical games, learn new songs and vocal techniques.)
-Recorder Karate (Master a skill or song and earn a belt (ribbon) for your Recorder)
-Songwriting 101 (Work with your classmates to create a song and leave with the skills to create your own album)
-Guitar Star (Give guitar a try, play musical games, learn chords and more)
MCA Director of Dance, Tammy Schmidt has set aside time on June 21st & August 23rd to speak personally with dancers and a parent to discuss your dance goals to make sure you are on the right path to reach them and answer questions you may have about MCA’s dance levels, dancing in college and professionally, or other opportunities in the dance world.read more

This two week day camp will run Monday- Friday, June 18-29, 9am-4pm and is perfect for male and female dancers who have some dance experience under their belt, but are ready to take their dancing to the next level!read more
