More About #GivingTuesday and MCA’s Community Impact

The Minnesota Conservatory for the Arts strives to be a part of the community. Through our need-based scholarships and #MCAontheGo, which is MCA’s community outreach program we strive make the arts accessible to all community members regardless of age, race, gender, economic status, geographic location or abilities. Throughout the year MCA partners with local organizations, businesses and schools to make the largest impact. Recent #MCAontheGo activities include; mask making at the Winona YMCA’s Fall Festival, Adaptive Dance Classes for clients from Home and Community Options, arts themed story-times at the Winona Public Library, visual art activities during LiveWell’s Play Streets,Winona Health’s Zombie Crawl, at Winona’s Indoor Playground and La Crosse Children’s Museum, Jazz Combos performances at Wellington’s, Irish Dancing at Watkins Manor and Lark Toys, Guitar performances during Ready,Set, School’s Annual Chili Supper, and dance class at the Winona Friendship Center during National Senior Health & Fitness Day.

These outreach activities are generally made available to the public at no cost. Thanks to local foundations, funds allocated through Minnesota State Arts Board and individuals just like you we are able continue make these opportunities possible. If you enjoy seeing us out and about in your community please keep us in mind this November 28th as we join the #GivingTuesday movement to ensure that our outreach programs can continue and grow. #GivingTuesday is a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide. Occurring annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday, #GivingTuesday kicks-off the holiday giving season and inspires people to collaborate in improving their local communities and to give back in impactful ways to the charities and causes they support.
