Summer is in full swing, but before we know it will be time to start thinking about back to school and all of the wonderful programs fall will bring.

Open House Schedule:

  • 4:00-7:00pm– Meet MCA faculty, Second Chance Dance Sale, shoe fittings, register for classes, play on our 8-foot floor piano, coloring contest, win prizes and enjoy treats.
  • 4:30-6:30pm– Explore “Echoes” an art exhibit in Galleria Valencia by Dan Eastman and then pick out and take home your favorite piece to hang in your bedroom!
  • 6:00-7:00pm– Middle and High School students, come learn about MCA’s new National Honors Society for Dance Arts Chapter through National Dance Educators Organization.

Not only will families have the opportunity to win MCA swag, but lucky families could also win a gift certificate to Rochester’s premier dance attire store, Blades to Ballet, a pass to Winona’s Indoor Park The Playground or to the Children’s Museum of La Crosse. Other awesome prizes include tickets to a Page Series show, and a copy of the new Winona Coloring book.

Back by popular demand is our Second Chance Dance Sale. Over the years, MCA has acquired a significant amount of dance shoes and attire that we would like to pass along to a good home. In light of that, we’ve decided to offer it to our patrons at a VERY reduced price. Tables will be set up with items to peruse and all funds raised will be used to support the MCA scholarship fund and other programs. If any MCA families have attire that their dancers have outgrown or has fallen out of use, you may request a table to sell or swap your items as well. There is no charge for families to set up a table, just let Megan in office if you desire one at: mca@smumn.edu or 507-453-5500.  The Second Chance Dance Sale is a great way for us to grow as a community by helping to provide each other with necessities for creating beautiful art.

Additionally, the Open House this year will also feature a coloring contest for all ages utilizing the MCA page in the Winona Coloring book designed by local artist Julie Johnston, information sessions about how middle and high school students can become members of the National Honors Society for Dance Arts, and an Art Giveaway for Kids.

We hope to see you on Wednesday, August 23, 2017, 4-7pm at the Valencia Arts Center (MCA’s Home), 1164 W. Howard St., Winona, MN 55987.
